| Help for New Users of the A1 Housing Exchange Web Site |
| Have you received your confirmation email? |
When you registered and signed up with A1 an automated email should have been sent out to you? If you didn't get it then
either there is something wrong with the email address you used to register with or your spam filtering on your email may have
placed it into your spam folder or even deleted it!
Please contact us by email or telephone if you have not received that
email so that we can help get your account set up correctly from day one and avoid any further problems. |
| The Main Menu Selection Bar |
This is the Main Menu Bar:
The Menu Bar provides an easy way to navigate around the web site. Simply move your mouse over it and selections will drop down so that you can easily choose the one you want - like this:

| Ensure you have completed your property details. Use the Update Profile menu option, if the Property Details are not completed you will
not be able to receive any private messages from other users. Part of the Property Details information is where you indicate and
change your desired areas. |
| The Home Page Layout |
| The Home Page shows a list of Counties down the left hand side with a number in brackets - This is showing how many
properties are available in each county. These Counties are underlined meaning that they are links and if you click on one of them it will
then show you more detail about each of the properties in the selected county and provide more links to more detail. |
| The column down the right hand side is also a list of counties and these are counties where other members have said that they would
like to move to. These counties are also links and if you click one it will show you details about the members who would like to move to the
selected county. |
| Exchange Property Search |
| This is used to find exchange properties that match the specified search criteria or conditions. |
| Sending Private Messages |
Visitors (non subscribed users) can only send pre set scripted private messages.
 This screen shot shows the Private
Messaging menu option selected revealing two links, one to the Messaging Centre and the other to the Member List.
To send a PM (Private Message) you can select the Member List, find the member you want to communicate with and then click the small icon that
is displayed on the left hand side of the row containing the name of that user: 
The Message Centre menu option shown above takes you to your own personal message cent er where you can read any private messages that have been sent to you. Your new unread messages will be displayed in RED in the left hand list within the Message Centre. |
| Subscribing to A1 |
You will be able to upgrade your account using Paypal, you do not have to become a member of Paypal, most types of
cards can be used.
If you cancel your subscription before the end of the 90 day period then you will continue to be a full member, with full access to everything, until your subscription period expires. |
| Describing your property and your desired property |
| Subscription Members can use the Topics to fully describe their property and also the property they are looking for.
The more details you give about your property the more chance you have of finding your exchange quickly. The editor that is
provided allows you to build very eye catching ads for your property. You can also include a picture very easily too. |
| How to add a picture to your Topic? |
 Click the "insert/edit image" symbol, then choose how to show your pictures,
Use Image info to locate pictures on another site such as Kodak’s gallery.
Use Link, to link to any picture you have already created
Use Upload to collect a picture from your pc
Click "upload" on the tabs of the new window.
Click "browse" and select your image from your pc.
Describe your property fully.
Semi detatched modern house with three large bedrooms.
You could add the sizes of the rooms,
decribe the condition of your property,
say whether you have a garden or parking facilities,
say how close the schools and shops are.
Explain clearly what you are looking for.
Experiment with different colours, sizes and fonts.
Remember to always click the Post/Send button to save your newly created Topic or Reply! |
